Leslie Bender, IFCCE, CIPP/US, CCCO, CCCA, is an articulate corporate executive with over 30 years of experience handling compliance, regulatory, transactional and legal matters for hospitals and financial services companies. Recognized as a national expert on HIPAA and other information privacy and security laws, she was one of the first privacy officers internationally accredited as a Certified Information Privacy Professional. In addition to being an attorney and government/regulatory relations specialist, Leslie is an experienced mediator. Ms. Bender is a frequent motivational speaker and compliance educator and has been honored for her contributions to the consumer financial and healthcare industries by several credit, collections, healthcare and banking associations as well as the US Small Business Administration. ACA International honored Ms. Bender in 2018 for her lifetime contributions to the credit and collections industry and to ACA International’s compliance professional education programs, having twice previously honored her as its instructor of the year. Bender has authored several comprehensive professional education programs for compliance officers and compliance attorneys.
Currently Leslie is the Chief Strategy Officer and General Counsel for BCA Financial Services, Inc., a Miami, Florida headquartered financial services company. Bender is a Past President of ACA International, the international trade association of credit and collections professionals. Leslie served as ACA’s President in 2013-14, and as an officer of its Board of Directors from 2011-2015. Bender serves on the Steering Committee for the Consumer Relations Consortium and in 2017 collaborated with Consumer Action to produce a teleseminar for legal aid offices on understanding collections calls.
She earned her undergraduate degree from Northwestern University and her Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Notre Dame. Leslie resides in Southern California and is an endurance athlete in her spare time.
